Course Overview

Term 1
Term one is learning the fundamentals of design and the skills that will inform everything they do in DVC. Students will learn the basics of technical drawing, and a number of different drawing techniques such as perspective drawing, isometric drawing and oblique.

Term 2
We will move to using technology to communicate our design. This means students will be able to use the laser cutter and 3D printer to showcase their designs. The class will use industry level programs to use the laser cuter and 3D printer.

Term 3
The class will start to learn about the design process. Students will work in designing their own tiny house and work through a project to resolve a design. Once they have come up with a final design, the class will be able to make physical models of their design.

Term 4
Students will design a landscape for a specific outdoor area, focusing on environmental sustainability, aesthetics, and functionality. This project encourages creativity, planning, and practical application of design concepts.
