Level 2 Health
This course will teach you life skills that you can apply to any career path and within your day to day interactions with others. We will look at ways to manage a variety of real life situations. Looking through a critical lens, we will explore sexuality through music videos, comedy shows, history and different cultural perspectives. We will make change and help others- this is a fun practical unit where you get a choice over what your focus will be. In this unit, you can make positive changes at Hornby High School. We will also explore a variety of engaging contemporary health issues/topics.
This course is open to all students. You do not need to have taken Level 1 Health Studies to take this course.
The l2 Health students were the students who were successful in making positive changes to the HHS jewellery policy! Here are other amazing activities that the L2 Health students have run as part of a 5 credit Achievement Standard.

Course Overview
Term 1
First up we will learn about the key concepts that we need to know so we are successful! Next up is looking into enhancing lives through resilience- this is something that all students would benefit from learning for themselves and their career path.
Term 2
It is now time to identify an area that you want to make change in- students tie this in to a passion/interest area or a bugbear for them. This is a group based unit that has a practical and written components. Learn how to and carry out a plan to make change for the better.
Next up is learning to be analytical how to critically think when it comes to a diverse range of sexuality topics.
Term 3
Discrimination, bullying, harassment, intimidation, victimisation and racisim should have no place in our lives. We will be diving into these topics in order to enhance personal safety at all levels.
Term 4
We will be preparing for our external through games, activities and revision.
