Course Description

This block includes a field trip to the Halswell Quarry or Birdlings flat (weather/numbers/logistics dependent) for drawing. There is no cost for this trip. We start with exploring our landscape, and understanding Tūrangawaewae and move into using Māori, Filipino (kut-kut painting), Australian First Nations dot style painting and Pasifika patterns in creating your own finished painting. The option for working towards a mural piece in small groups also exists.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
- Art pencil (6B preferred), sketch book of your choice (unlined), eraser
Optional extras: fineliners, sharpie, a set of watercolour paints, charcoal for drawing
