Course Description

Classical Studies is the study of the ancient civilization of Rome. This subject looks at mythologies, battles, artworks and the continuing impact these ancient societies have on our modern day world. 

Course Overview

Term 1
Term 1: Classical Myths and The Aeneid
Explore the rich tapestry of Roman mythology and Virgil’s The Aeneid. Discover how these epic stories laid the foundations for Rome’s identity and rise to greatness.

Term 2
Term 2: Julius Caesar and Roman Leadership
Delve into the life of Julius Caesar and examine the political intrigue of the Roman Republic. Analyze the enduring influence of Roman ideas of leadership and governance on modern society.

Term 3
Term 3: Augustus and the Roman Empire
Witness the birth of the Roman Empire under Augustus. Learn how his leadership transformed Rome from a republic to an empire, shaping the ancient world and beyond.

Recommended Prior Learning

Passion for Learning about Classical Society. You do not have to have completed Level 2 Classics in order to take Level 3. It is recommended that students have achieved well in History , English or other literacy rich subjects in the past.
