Why study Art Photography at Level Three?

Art Photography is a University Entrance course. That means 14 credits earned here will be one-third of your main university course credit requirements covered. If you are good at it, then it is sensible to use it to help you gain that extra qualification layer.
Arts help train the eye and engage the brain differently from other academic subjects. Hand-to-eye coordination in this manner is fine motor-skill based and is shown to develop a part of our brain no other field would achieve. Visual Arts are not only supporting courses for many other aspects of society but a stand-alone aspect of careers and pathways in tertiary training; visual communication, design, spatial design, fashion design, product design, photography, fine arts, visual arts, ceramics, jewelry design, for instance.

Course Overview
Term 1
Developing your kaupapa -At level three this has to strongly incorporate good solid research and understanding of Art movements. We step through these carefully in term one so that you can use them thoughtfully in your work. There is a focus on traditional and digital techniques and you will develop strong photoshop or photopea skills along with good use of a DSLR camera. You will work on 3.1 (Research - four internal credits - UE literacy) and 3.2 (four internal credits using compositional principles) simultaneously over term one. All work must be documented on your blog.
Term 2
During term two, you begin to develop the rest of the items you will need to fulfill your kaupapa as a number of series of works. Your practical work will be geared towards achieving 3.3 (four credit internal) this term and beginning your external folio (3.4) worth 14 credits this year. All work must be documented on your blog.
Term 3
During this term, you are putting your folio together using the best work for panel one and two for 3.4 (14 credit folio) in linked series and sequences. Panel three of this assessment is begun. All work must be documented on your blog.
Term 4
The externally assessed folio (3.4 worth 14 credits) is due in week five of this term. Following this, there is a short window to resubmit any internal standards you might not have achieved.
