Teacher in Charge: Mr A. Kane.
Outdoor Education teaches you basic tramping, camping, navigation, sailing and rock climbing skills. Level 3 takes these skills further and higher and could include some basic mountaineering skills.
Pre-requisites – None: but you should be reasonably active and show a positive attitude to theory and practical work.
To get into Level 3: Open entry to anyone, However priority will be given to those who have successsfully completed the Level 1 and/or 2 O.Ed . courses. You should also have Level 1 and 2 NCEA as this will show that you will be able to cope with Level 3 work.
To cover costs (food, camping fees, outside provider costs) while away on field trips we ask for a $300 contribution towards these costs. Also it would help if students have their own boots, thermals, fleece jacket/jumper and raincoat - but if not the Outdoor Education department has a selection that students can borrow.
