Course Description

Semester 1 DVC

Enjoy all things design? Want to design, create, and make? Then choose DVC.

DVC is about drawing, designing and creating things such as architecture, product design, landscape design, logos and then being able to use the amazing technology we have to offer such as the 3D printers and the laser cutter.

Course Overview

Term 1
Term one is learning the fundamentals of design and the skills that will inform everything they do in DVC. Students will learn the basics of technical drawing, and a number of different drawing techniques such as perspective drawing, isometric drawing and oblique.

Term 2
We will move to learning about the design process and designing your own dream bedroom. Students will work through a portfolio of work, to research design and make their own dream bedroom.

Term 3
In term 3 Students will be learning about product design. Each student will be given a random product and they will then have a model the object on Sketch Up, TinkerCAD, and then make a physical model of it. This is learning about practical modeling techniques.

Term 4
The class will start to learn about the design process. Students will work in designing their own tiny house and work through a project to resolve a design. Once they have come up with a final design, the class will be able to make physical models of their design.
