Course Overview

Term 1
You’ll begin the year by diving into your first woodworking project, where you’ll learn and refine essential skills. This term will be all about mastering the basics, from measuring and cutting to assembling and finishing. By the end of the term, you’ll have completed a project that showcases your growing craftsmanship.

Term 2
In Term 2, you’ll shift your focus to researching and designing a project of your own. This is your chance to get creative and plan something that reflects your personal interests and style. You’ll consider factors like materials, design aesthetics, and functionality as you develop a detailed plan for your custom project.

Term 3
Collaboration takes center stage in Term 3 as you join forces with your classmates to work on a large group project—a picnic table. This term will challenge you to apply your individual skills while coordinating with others to create a piece that’s both functional and well-crafted. Teamwork, communication, and problem-solving will be key as you bring this shared vision to life.

Term 4
Term 4: The final term is dedicated to finishing the group project. You’ll work together to complete the picnic table, ensuring every detail is perfected. This term will focus on the final touches, such as sanding, staining, and sealing, to produce a polished and durable piece. By the end of Term 4, you’ll not only have a finished project but also a deepened understanding of the importance of collaboration in woodworking.
